Sažetak
“Less is more” is becoming popular in Clinical Dentistry. Despite recent advancement in dental materials. Glass ionomer fissure sealing is an beneficial strategy to preserve hard and soft tissues using biomaterials with similar mechanical, physical, and optical properties as that of tooth structures (i.e., enamel, dentine, and cementum). The ability to mimic the properties of a natural tooth to a restorative material would lead to the preservation of dental pulp vitality, retention of teeth in oral cavity longer by reducing the need for future re-treatments and eventually substantial cost savings. With this respect, glass-based materials could be considered as biomimetic materials, since this material has properties similar to dentine, adhesiveness to tooth structures with mineral and fluoride release by transferring ions into demineralized zone of a carious lesion.
