Sažetak
Due to growing popularity, biodegradable materials require detailed research of their properties in order to be able to apply them in the widest possible range of applications. One of the most important properties are the surface properties and the adhesion performance. By adjusting them, it is possible to influence the final properties and thus obtain materials of different characteristics that can be used for various purposes. The aim of this paper is to see how the addition of SiO2 nanoparticles changes surface properties and adhesion performance of PLA/PCL composites. PLA and PCL are two immiscible polymers therefore, SiO2 nanoparticles were added to the composite mixture as compatibilizer. Nanoparticles can be localized at the interface of the polymers and thus enable the obtaining of new composites with enhanced properties. The samples with different ratio of PLA/PCL components and without and with 1% and 3% of SiO2 will be prepared. The tests to be performed on the samples are contact angle measurement, calculation of surface free energy by OWRK method and determination of adhesion parameters. Adhesion parameters that will be calculated for the two-component system (PLA/PCL) are work of adhesion, free interfacial energy and wetting coefficient and for three-component system (PLA/PCL/SiO2) wetting coefficient will be calculated.
