Sažetak
Materials and Methods: Eleven patients aged 21 to 80 years ; six of them women, with suspected LGG, diagnosed with 3T magnetic resonance imaging and/or stereotactic brain biopsy were included in this pilot study from March 2018 to May 2019. Patients underwent both 18F-FET and 18F-FCH PET/CT scanning within one week. Brain imaging was performed according to standard protocol 20 minutes after intravenous injection 185 MBq of 18F-FET (IASOGlio, IASON GmbH A-8054 Graz- Seiersberg, Austria) and 185 MBq 18F-FCH (IASOcholine, IASON GmbH A-8054 Graz-Seiersberg, Austria). Biopsy or surgical tumor ablation with pathohistological diagnosis have been performed in the following month in seven patients Results: Nine patients had a 18F-FET positive lesion, with SUVmax values ranging from 1, 3 to 3, 1. Six patients positive on 18F-FET PET and negative on 18F-FCH PET had pathohistological diagnosis of low-grade glioma (1 ganglioglioma, 4 diffuse astrocytoma, 1 anaplastic astrocytoma). Two patients with both 18F-FET and 18F-FCH PET avid lesion, had final diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme. One patient negative on 18F-FET PET and negative on 18F-FCH PET had diagnosis of focal cortical dysplasia. Two out of 11 patients are still waiting for surgery. Conclusion: Preliminary results of this pilot study suggest functional imaging provides valuable information, necessary for individual management of patients with LGG. 18F-FET seems to be more accurate than 18F-FCH in primary diagnosis of LGG, while 18F-FCH uptake seems to correlate with higher grade and more aggressive gliomas.
