Sažetak
The historical role of paediatrics was mainly directed towards the treatment of infectious and other diseases of childhood. Preventive care for the healthy development of the child has become the primary focus during the last 200 years. The World Health Organization (WHO), especially with its definition of health and its numerous executive acts, directs its activities towards a wider concept of health. The Convention on the Rights of the Child especially emphasizes a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to the child and also promotion of the health of the child. Very concrete programmes with the joint goal of achieving the health of children are necessary to realize these concepts.
