Sažetak
The primary aim of this paper as a part of a planned longitudinal action research of business school students’ sustainability awareness and engagement capacity is to explore their attitudes in relation to their future roles in sustainable business context. Previous global research on the state of CSR and responsible management education in business schools and the attitudes of their students in 2018 by PRME, a recent global research “Students, Sustainability and Education” by Students Organizing on Sustainability and a number of studies by individual researchers and universities - signatories of UNPRME, indicate raising of student awareness about the importance of sustainability integration and stakeholder approach to business but not necessarily adequately served and stimulated by the education process. Age, gender, and particularly cultural context also play an important role. The purpose inspiring the research in this aspect has usually been to translate knowledge based on results into action in high education institutions where future business leaders are educated and formed. This research that focuses on the case of an American college and business school with a certain percentage of international and majority of Croatian students, has the same purpose. The survey questions are adapted from the global survey by PRME in 2018. The paper discusses various levels of awareness of undergraduates who had not previously attend any course which focuses particularly on business ethics and socially responsible business. The study set out to investigate the impact of overall business school education on student awareness and understanding of the role of sustainability/corporate social responsibility in their future executive and management roles.
