Sažetak
The critical place for the occurrence of corrosion on steel elements made of wire are electric resistance spot welds on which deformations often occur. The more pronounced the deformations on the surface of the welded joint, the greater is the probability of incomplete coverage of the entire critical surface. Anticorrosive protection of such elements mainly consists of electrostatic powder coating in combination with a conversion coating. In this paper, the anticorrosive durability of samples protected with two types of powder coating was compared. The composition of the two coatings differs in the viscosity additive. Increasing the viscosity of the paint increases the probability of covering all parts of the surface of electrical resistance welds. The samples were prepared in the form of a wire mesh consisting of 81 electric resistance welds. After the powder coating was applied, optical metallographic analysis of the welded joint cross section was conducted. Salt spray chamber testing showed different resistances of the two types of surface protection. The test was performed in collaboration with Helios Coatings Italia S.r.l. and Feroplast d.o.o. Buje.
