Sažetak
Using the generalized Hooke's law for orthotropic materials as well as the strain optic law for birefringent coatings the reinforcing effect of isotropic coatings on orthotropic specimen has been considered. An iterative procedure to account for the reinforcing effect was developed. In the case of the free boundary of the model, the correction factor C was derived. This correction factor can be directly applied to the measured strains in order to obtain the true values of strains that would occur in the uncoated specimen.
