Sažetak
In the terms of education, doctoral study in general is the highest degree that a student can gain in high education. The Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb has acquired long tradition and experience to conduct doctoral study. The Board of doctoral study monitors very precisely and methodically all activities concerning doctoral achievement. Despite the good results of students’ satisfaction with doctoral study, the Board of doctoral study also identified some problems, such as: almost 100 % of our doctoral students are fully employed in other institutions. That strongly interferes with their availability through the workweek and diminishes the amount of time of their possible engagement. That was the major reason why the Faculty decided to conduct the study as a part-time study, contrary to the situation in some other countries where the government provides the PhD scholarships. On the other hand, the part time study is not always a downside. It allows flexibility and it provides the opportunity for more students to attend the study, and it is not limited by government scholarships. It means that more students have decided to enroll to study and it recently became apparent that there are more students from another field of research (such as medicine, economy engineering) enrolling. The aim of this study is to present the outlines of the Doctoral study of Kinesiology at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb while emphasizing the main problems and advantages of the part-time PhD study curriculum.
