Sažetak
Experimental methods in damage and fracture mechanics are directed to predict the reliability of the inspected mechanical part. The optical method of caustics is established for the stress intensity factors determination of the cracks and advantageously improved for the anisotropic materials. The method of caustic finds recently its application to the contact force problem. Observation of the dynamic failure process and phenomena of the formation of the damaged regions is possible by using high-speed photography and optical interferometric methods. Coherent gradient sensor (CGS) interferometry is suitable for recording the moment of dynamic crack initiation and for registering of the real time near-tip deformation during crack propagation. The object grating method is used for the displacement registration of the optical marks (facets) on the specimen surface. The images of the reference unloaded loaded stages are computed by the area based image-matching algorithm resulting the actual surface deformation.
