Sažetak
The process of dyeing modified polyester knitwear in conditions of lower temperature in the presence of ultrasound has been described in this paper. The modification was carried out through alkalization, alkaline processed PES fabric has a better aesthetic appearance and fall, pleasant touch, is comfortable and very similar to silk. Ultrasound was used to create a fine dispersion of dye particles, as well as to intensify the migration of dye molecules in the solution and the interior of the fibers during dyeing. To quantify the color of the knitwear, after dyeing, the Kubelka-Munk equation and parameters of the CIELab system were used, through which differences in the degree of dyeing can be characterized. Comparing the value of the parameter ΔL, a negative value is observed in all cases, which means that the colored sample is darker than the reference (uncolored), as expected. The largest negative values appear in the modified sample (ΔL=-6.54, -5.07, and -5.34). Δa, which shows the difference on the red-green coordinate, has (-) values which mean more green and less red (Δa=-2.21 and -2.62). The results for Δb, which shows the difference on the yellow-blue coordinate with (+) sign, confirm that the obtained shade has a more yellow and less blue tone in the coordinate system of spatial color representation, the highest values for Δb were obtained with modified samples (Δb=29.94, 30.92, and 32.84). Based on the research, it can be concluded that the used disperse dye can be successfully applied for dyeing modified PES fibers in conditions of lower temperature and in the presence of ultrasound.
