Sažetak
This paper aims to show an example of the blended learning experience in higher education English courses in the Centre for Foreign Languages at the University of Zadar. First, the concept of blended learning is defined and described and a review of previous literature is given. Next, three separate case studies are presented and described with a special focus on potential pedagogical contributions for each particular case. Although all three courses share some common interest in integrating online instruction in the traditional classroom lessons, the new approach is used in all three cases for specific reasons. In the first course, the blended approach is seen as a solution for parallel work with large number of students at different proficiency level. The second course reaches for the new teaching approach for the main reason of distance learning – primarily for part- time students. The third course uses the vast opportunities of e-learning platform for teaching academic writing and managing the course requirements for different student groups. Finally, suggestions are made for future implementations of blended learning in the area of higher education with respect to the three English courses presented here
