Sažetak
Frequently studied by theater historians, the plot of The Second Part of the Seven Deadly Sins—a non- extant play probably originating with Richard Tarlton and the Queen’s Men in the 1580s—has yielded contradictory information about its actual connection to the early modern theater. As a description of a theatrical reincarnation of one half of an earlier play, the plot has been assigned dates ranging from the early 1590s to the early 1600s and has produced conflicting critical narratives about the companies involved or the playhouses in which it might have served a useful purpose. In this paper I reconsider the provenance of the plot to argue, contrary to recent scholarship on the topic, that it was owned by Edward Alleyn. I then introduce a new piece of evidence possibly related to the plot to suggest that Greg’s dating of it to 1590 may not be altogether incorrect.
