Sažetak
The paper compares directly quenched, cemented layers with indirectly quenched layers after carbonization of Č4320 in gaseous atmosphere. The analysis of the surface hardness (HRC) and the heat tretment history (HV1) has shown there are no essential differences between analyzed layers. Testing of abrasive wear resistance of surfaces in contact with SiO2 was carried out on samples under laboratory conditions on Taber-abraser machine, and in practice on components of sunflower oil extracting screw presses. It has been established that in high-pressure conditions, directly quenched layers displayed up to 25% lower abrasive wear resistance between protective layer and the abrasive, when compared with indirectly quenched layers after carbonization. The metalographic analysis of structure showed presence of carbide Cr in the protective layer of directly quenched samples, which is most probably the reason for their high abrasive wear resistance.
