Sažetak
This presentation will focus on data gathered in 2019 (N = 1328) and 2020 (N = 414) within projects focusing on youth cultural and digital practices in Croatia. Digital practices imply young people's interests in the various forms of the digital content which can also point to different levels of technological literacy that arise from structural dispositions of the individuals and the social context. Therefore, the aim of this presentation is to highlight key differences along the line of gender in the usage of various technological options and platforms in the online world. For the purpose of mapping the styles and usages of digital technologies, a 24 item scale was used, ranging from passive to active and creative usage of the digital content. After performing principal component analyses (PCA) of the instrument, several indexes were created that point to different styles of digital technology usage of the youth in Croatia. Furthermore, bivariate and multivariate statistical analysis offered a detailed insight into these differences with special emphasis on the role of gender. Results will be interpreted using the theoretical framework of the digital capital and digital literacy. Moreover, the presentation will discuss the obtained findings within broader understanding of gender inequalities in Croatian society in order to address socio-cultural norms that are creating barriers for women to equally participate in various digital content.
