Sažetak
In autumn 2019, Croatian Ministry of Science and Education begun to conduct the biggest school reform since the state independence of Croatia in the 1990s. One of the mottos of this reform is „to encourage critical thinking“. At the same time, the president of Croatia was urging young students not to enroll in faculty programs such as History or Archeology but to enroll in STEM programs instead. Those recent happenings are completely in line with many years of diminishing the importance of humanities in society when at the same time the competence of „critical thinking“ is being used as a motto of the whole school reform. In this chapter, I am discussing the methods public historians can use when trying to practice public history and raise critical thinking among the public through social media. The focus of the chapter is on two major topics ; content writing, and educating a public accustomed to positivistic and politicized history. All of the discussed methods and questions are a result of two years work as an editor of Croatian Public history website, Facebook page, and a Youtube channel, Povcast.hr.
