Sažetak
Accumulation of lead(II) and cadmium(II) by chelating resins with the purpose of separating toxic heavy metals from natural waters, sea waters and waste waters has been described by several authors. According to literature data, nitric acid is used as the binding medium and chlorides are used for elution. In our work simple exchange effects were studied in the temperature range of 293-333K in order to establish the effect of temperature on the binding of lead(II) and cadmium(II) from waters contaminated with these heavy metals. A thermodynamic explanation of ion exchange has been given by Irving for the system H2SO4/Cl- and OH-/Cl-. Since the endothermic and exothermic properties of the system were examined only at 293K, we measured the parameters of metal-ion exchange at higher temperatures in order to anticipate the possibilities of technological cleaning of natural or waste waters.
