Sažetak
Microplastics are recognized as a harmful ingredient that can have an ecotoxicological effect on the aquatic system and the human body. Laundry domestic wastewaters (LDWs) are a relevant source of microplastics due to the washing of synthetic fabrics. The aim of this study was to treat LDWs of 100% polyester shirts (washed without and with liquid detergent) with ultrafiltration (UF) flat sheet membranes (2-10 kDa) and remove microplastics. The effectiveness was performed by microscopy and analysis of suspended solids and the results show complete removal. With this treatment, a high potential of only UF to treat LDW is shown to achieve water without microplastics.
