Sažetak
During the past two decades the traditional way of work has changed dramatically all over the world. The emergence of online platforms and digitalization of business processes had significant impact on the concept of employment and forms of work. The newly established economic concepts had been changing so rapidly that the regulatory framework in most of the countries has constantly been lagging behind. That is why this new concept of the economy, popularly called “the gig economy” brings a lot of confusion when it comes to workers’ rights in general. This paper explores the concept of the gig economy itself, analyses major economic and legal issues pertaining to the gig work and elaborates on legal possibilities to protect gig workers.
