Sažetak
Standard aluminium alloy AlSi9Cu3(Fe) (EN AC 46000) is the most common Al-alloy used to produce castings with high-pressure casting technology and has wide application in the automotive industry, especially for motor mounts, gearbox housings, filter housings, generator housing, turbocharger housing, etc. The advantages of AlSi9Cu3(Fe) alloy are relatively high mechanical properties, strength and hardness, although it shows slightly lower elongation and corrosion resistance. The mechanical and microstructural properties of aluminium cast alloys are dependent from the composition, melt treatment, solidification rate, casting process and from potential heat treatment. This paper investigates the recycling potential of AlSi9Cu3(Fe) alloy using own return material from foundry without any additions. The presence of wide range of alloying elements AlSi9Cu3(Fe) alloys reveals number of potential phases such as α-Al15(FeMn)3Si2, β-Al5FeSi, Mg2Si, Al2Cu and even more complex one such as Al15Cu2Mg8Si6 and Al5Mg8Cu2Si6. Remelting of recycled aluminium cast alloys influence on the change of microstructure development through the solidification process and therefore lead to the degradation of mechanical properties.
