Sažetak
The impact of earthquake stress on adolescent mental health In March 2020, a strong earthquake occurred in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, which caused great material damage and had a very negative effect on the mental health of citizens. In December 2020, only fifty kilometers south of Zagreb, two devastating earthquakes occurred, which caused material damage again and additionally affected the mental health of the inhabitants of Zagreb. These stressful events occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic which is itself very stressful. Considering that adolescents are one of the most vulnerable groups and perhaps more sensitive to stressful events caused by major disasters, during February and March 2021 we conducted a survey of students in three schools for nurses in Zagreb, which provided insight into the difficulties and problems that they recognize it as disturbing. Based on the obtained data, it will be possible to identify the type and intensity of stressors as possible causes of PTSD, and ultimately they will be able to serve for the development of prevention programs in educational institutions.
