Sažetak
The main aim of this research is to simulate a compressiontest of semi-solid A380 aluminium alloy in numericalsoftware. In order to achieve a more realistic model, 2Dimage-based modelling is used. The first step of this methodis to obtain appropriate microstructural images. As thesemi-solid material consists of non- dendritic solid phaseand liquid channe ls, ECAP tool is used to apply a highplastic strain to casted samples. In order to observedesirable (non-dendritic) microstructure, microstructureimage is taken from water quench ECAPed sample heatedat semi-solid range. After the binarizing image data, thedata are imported to appropriate software. A coupledEulerian– Lagrangian (CEL) approach is used to obtainmacro-scale mechanical behaviour. This approach is usedto take advantages of both main formulations: Eulerianformulation and Lagrangian formulation. In CELapproach, material moves through an Eulerian mesh that isfixed in space while Lagrangian mesh is attached to thematerial points and is used to set boundary conditions. Thesimulations results show a strong dependence of mechan-ical behaviour on strain rate. This informations can beused for prediction of semi-solid forming, as well.
