Sažetak
The search for hidden champions in Croatia went through two phases. In the first phase, a pool of growing businesses was identified by using the OECD definition and data from annual reports (indicators on the growth intensity of sales, revenue, assets, and employment). In the second phase, a group of businesses with products based on highly specialized knowledge was identified, and then several of them were approached for getting deeper insights through interviews. Of the three Croatian hidden champions presented in the 2013 publication, only one had maintained its growth path in 2019. Two others had lost this status due to lack of innovative capacity and financial strength to keep and broaden their market base.
