Sažetak
During the operation of vertical pumps, which are pumping stream water, it appears the problem of shaft bushing wearing, i.e. wearing of safety bushing stuck on the shaft. This wearing is caused by penetration of stream water containing particles of quartz sand into the cooling area of slide bearings and packing. Penetration of stream water into the cooling area is possible because of pressure difference between stream water and clear cooling water, as well as because of leaching on packing. Since the wearing is not related to a certain period of time, because the penetration of stream water can’ t be foreseen, i.e. the shafts are not entirely over pump working hours in contact with stream water and sand, the wearing process can be successfully monitored by means of vibration measuring. These data make the base for undertaking of maintenance activities, as well as spare parts purchasing in the right time.
