Sažetak
Management of port transhipment systems refers to the selection of management activities from the approved management activities menu and their realisation. Management of container terminal transhipment processes requires not only the presence of the human factor but also successful planning, organisation and control of management activities. Given the need for fast transhipment and measurement of large container vessels reaching up to 8000 TEUs, these processes are more complex where large-sized container terminals are concerned, requiring new design of container crane performances and integral control of the whole transhipment process performance. New transhipment concepts concerning large container vessels are aimed at achieving a completely automated transhipment process, based on information technology backup and conventional control practices. The paper has included a research and analyses of possibilities for upgrading of transhipment processes at container terminals, and a concept proposal regarding an automated management of transhipment processes involving large container vessels.
