Sažetak
The 3D printing is today one of the most revolutionary and powerful technologies for precise manufacturing of different materials and biodegradable medical materials in a form of alloys or 3D printed polymers are perceived as revolutionary biomedical materials. The current achievements include additive manufacturing of cell-based materials for regenerative medicine, drug delivery systems, adjustable or personalized dosage forms, implants and other materials. Since a vast variety of biomaterials are currently being used in medical 3D printing (such are metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites), our group aims to apply 3D printed biopolymers for manufacturing medial cateters. Therefore the current focus of our group is on the development of antibacterial biopolymers for clinical applications by using fused deposition modeling, and materials that are tested as PLA polymers. Antibacterial coating is achieved after the 3D printing step by dip-coating process by which the biopolymer is coated with antibacterial coating containing silver nanoparticles.
