Sažetak
The paper discusses the events of the summer of 1571 when the navy of the legendary corsair Uluc-Ali pillaged towns and islands of the Adriatic in the eve of the battle of Lepanto. The Corsairs made sudden attacks on the islands of Korčula and Hvar, and took many islanders as slaves. The echoes of the event can be traced in written accounts, oral history, but also pieces of art and architecture (especially impressive are fortified churches)
