Sažetak
Design of contemporary textile products for improved human performance is an important area in the R&D of specific clothing like protective wear and sportswear. According to the up-to- date global economic reports, the sportswear market is expected to touch a valuation of US$ 108.7 Bn by end of the year 2025, which gives a clear picture of how important it is to direct the research towards the properties of sportswear materials and development of guidelines for further improvements. Within the experimental part of this manuscript, the authors focus on a number of mechanical properties important for optimal performance of textile materials, especially for the production of specific sportswear. Therefore, the following mechanical properties of materials are investigated: tensile properties (including the breaking force, breaking elongation, and time to break), the resistance of the material to mechanical penetration (ball burst procedure), bending rigidity, and compression. In the manuscript are discussed obtained results of measured mechanical properties and given guidelines for further improvements.
