Sažetak
Ginevra 'Ginny' Weasley is one of the more prominent female characters featured in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. She is the seventh child of Molly and Arthur Weasley, a child whose mother, after giving birth to six boys, has longed for – a daughter. As such, she is shown to be given a different treatment than that which her elder siblings receive. Not only her parents, but her brothers, too, exhibit over-protectiveness that can be dubbed sexist. More specifically, this paper will cover Ginny's inclination towards Quiddich and how she is sometimes prevented from taking an active part in her favourite pastime. A brief analysis of Quiddich history in general and Hogwarts' current teams' line-ups will be provided for a better understanding of the general context of the reception of female Quiddich players in the Wizarding world. Furthermore, the paper will deal with the romantic relationships Ginny gets involved in during her time at Hogwarts and how these relationships are viewed by her brothers. Through the exploration of Ginny's reactions to her sexist surroundings afflicted with double standards, the paper will seek to confirm whether she fits into a mould designed for her by her family.
