Sažetak
EU-related conspiracy theories in the Western Balkans fuel a considerable ‘Euroambivalence’. Defining the Western Balkans vis-à-vis Europe has produced a variety of identity narratives in these aspiring countries, some of which are based on increasingly conspiratorial worldviews. This broad palette of attitudes ranges from hard Euroscepticism to hard Europhilia, characterised as uncritical opposition or unwavering support for the EU. Interestingly, these two oppo- sites share some similar features (both represent dynamic constructs), aetiologies (both are facilitated by non-transparent governments, prolonged EU accession processes and foreign influences), as well as consequences, conceptualised as conspiratorial narratives and related mythologies in this chapter, theorised as ‘Eurovilification’ and ‘Eurofundamentalism’.
