Sažetak
Programming novices encounter persisting problems in their programming education which have resulted in fear and pessimistic attitude towards programming courses among every new generation of programming novices. Along with subjective fear of dealing with programming a more objective measures report about relatively high failing rates which as a consequence produce also relatively high dropout rates. Some means of helping programming novices to learn programming have been proposed and implemented but the situation regarding programming courses has not improved much. The situation is even more prominent in the case of visually impaired programming novices which encounter even more problems in trying to understand complex programming principles and programming language syntax. The problems in programming education and specific aspects that are part of visually impaired programming novices’ education in the field of programming are presented and discussed in this paper along with tools and approaches that are used to make programming courses easier for all programming novices. Finally an approach and solution that would be suitable for aiding visually impaired in their first programming steps is proposed and elaborated.
