Sažetak
The idea of media pluralism is at the core of European media policies. It is even more so in the recent years, which have been marked by the growing power of online platforms in shaping the information environments, and because of the perceived impact platforms have on informed citizenship and forming of the public opinion. This chapter aims to analyse both positives and challenges of the EU measures and instruments, which are going beyond media to protect media pluralism. The analysis uses the conceptual and operational framework of the Media Pluralism Monitor (MPM)ii, an independent research and monitoring project that understands media pluralism in a holistic way, and with both online and offline dimensions in mind.
