Sažetak
This work presents a non-linear formulation of structural stability problems of thin-walled beam- type struc-tures. The finite element method and the updated Lagrangian description are utilized. A beam cross-sectional displacement field, which includes second-order displacement terms due to large space rotations, is applied for kinematical description. In such a way, the incremental geometric potential corresponding to semitangential moment behaviour is obtained for torsion and bending internal moments defined by engineering theories, ensuring the joint equilibrium of adjacent non-collinear beam elements is provided. Material is isotropic and homogeneous and obeys the Hooke law.
