Sažetak
Global Value Chains enables participating countries to focus on product segments to achieve the best results instead of developing the whole production process. Share of domestic value-added in exports (DVA) is considered a measure of countries’ development. The research subject is to determine the basic determinants of growth of domestic value added of exports in manufacturing (DVM) in two separate groups of CEE countries to identify key differences in the experimental groups. In the first stage of the research, the DVM average growth rate represented a base to divide countries into two groups to analyze groups with a WPI model (weighted position indicator CEE- 2G), which authors develop. Countries of very different development levels have been distributed in these two groups, and the WPI model showed very similar values for both countries. The results’ analysis indicated the strength of pre-production activities (investment in R&D, skills development, and fixed assets), production activities (wages, hours worked, turnover and production), and foreign direct investment, as weighted factors, and their impact on DVM in exports. Trends are observed for the period from 2008-2015. Research provides insight into determinants of functional specialization of CEE-2G (CEE - two groups) countries. It can serve as a base for further research using different variables and including post-production activities.
