Sažetak
Ecology and topics related to sustainable development are important for the individual and society and should be an integral part of everyone’s education. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb is an institution of higher education that offers more than thirty study programs in the fields of humanities and social sciences. Apart from career guidance and education it also offers practical and theoretical knowledge about sustainable development. The concept of sustainable development should become a framework for all future economic and political solutions. This is why it is necessary for it to be implemented into the education system. Our society should continue to develop on the basis of these principles for the sake of its own future. All future, current and past programs are based on the principle of cooperation. This includes the cooperation between the teaching staff of the Faculty, other experts outside of the Faculty, the students and certain members of the public. This kind of approach tries to include the Library in the curriculum and to make an even greater impact on society. These programs seek to inspire thought- provoking discussion ; provide the public with information about sustainable development, protection of the environment and the impact of ecological topics and issues on the individual and society, as well as make the public more aware of these topics. It is also important to recognize the importance of the concept of sustainable development of society that implies a balance between society, the environment and the economy. In our presentation we are going to explain why it was necessary to include the Library of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb in the Green Libraries Project. We are also going to describe the process itself from the moment when we first started offering different kinds of content and carrying out various projects related to these green topics (lectures, workshops, movie screenings, exhibitions etc.)
