Sažetak
The aim of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of stroke risk factors for patients suffering from cochlear tinnitus. We tested 48 persons with subjective, cochlear tinnitus (patients), 35 women and 13 men, aged 30-65 years. Our results were compared to the control group of 50 persons without tinnitus, 36 women and 14 men, aged 28-66 years. al subjects had a complete neurootologix examination with medical history, standard blood testing, audiometric and vestibular testing. Color Doppler Flow imaging of carotid and vertebral arteries and Transcranial Doppler was also performed. The most common risk factors for stroke, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and smoking were significantly more often in patients than control group. Patients with tinnitus had significantly more often the vertebrobasilar insufficiency evaluating by Transcranial Doppler. These results show that identification of stroke risk factors may lead to prevention or effective treatment of cochlear tinnitus.
