Sažetak
The article represents a research proposal in the field of national security. It proposes the sustainability perspective as the most suitable application of the concept of (extended) sectors of security, introduced by the Copenhagen School (CS). Arguably, sustainability perspective, which encompasses three mutually interacting complex systems: social, economic and environmental – represents the “new sectors” of security in the CS’ concept. The goal of the research will be to contemplate, investigate and deepen understanding of necessity to integrate the sustainability perspective in the national security framework. The article provides an initial set of definitions, theories and methodology that will be used in the research, aiming to validate the use of sustainability concept in examining security concerns. The methodology chosen for research intends to provide adequate strategy and techniques to deal with the complex nature of national security.
