Sažetak
The paper examines the provisions of the 1994 Protocol for the Protection of the Mediterranean Sea against Pollution resulting from Exploration and Exploitation of the Continental Shelf and the Seabed and its Subsoil. Its importance is explained, given the physical characteristics and hydrodynamic of the Mediterranean. In addition to the content of the protocol which comprises the preventive aspects, liability for pollution damage resulting from offshore activities is also analysed, on the basis of the 2008 Guidelines for the Determination of Liability and Compensation for Damage resulting from Pollution of the Marine Environment in the Mediterranean Sea Area.
