Sažetak
Analysis of a strong bora case on the northern Adriatic during ALPEX SOP period 12-18 April 1982, is presented. This case was characterized by the longest duration of the bora in Senj. The cold air broke over the Adriatic Sea in an air stream around the eastern Alps causing a mesocyclone to form on the middle Adriatic, on 14 April. As a consequence, the maximum gusts were reached on Krk Island (Tito's Bridge, 44 m/s). Vertical wind structure on the upstream bora region and on the lee side (Pula) indicates major vertical wind shear and turbulence (small Ri) in the lowest layer below the wind maximum. The existing analysis of low tropospheric velocity field in the windward side shows prevailing NE wind at the lowest 2-2.5 km at altitude. At Pula the bora layer was somewhat lover (1.5-2 km) and the wind had more expressed easterly component.
