Sažetak
An analysis of horizontal acceleration for a strong bora over the Adriatic Sea on 6 March 1982 is presented. The horizontal acceleration acting on a parcel of air can be considered the unbalanced residual of the pressure, the Coriolis and the frictional forces per unit mass. It follows that the net acceleration is the vector difference between actual Coriolis force and that Coriolis force for geostrophic wind when the frictional force is neglected. The air stream after going around the Alps forms the cold bora wind. It is shown that the air begins to accelerate somewhat to the north of Zagreb. The other part of acceleration is formed when the air stream moves downslope due to high density and pull of gravity.
