Sažetak
Diversity of people participating in the Crusades and settling down in the newly established Crusader States created specific conditions for the development of legal system in the Outremer during the 12th and 13th Century. In the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the most important of Crusader States, the laws were written down in the form of coutumiers around the middle of the 13th Century. Two collections, Livre des Assises de la Haute Court and Livre des Assises de la Cour des Bourgeois, preserved in several privately redacted editions, contained separate regulations for Frankish nobility and for the burgesses, respectively, the latter being also applied in relations with local, native population. In this paper it is investigated into the political and legal circumstances of process of redaction, legal effects and the objectives (coutumiers analysed in the sense of alternatives to codifications) of two legal collections. Concerning diverse origins of the settler population, unique geo-political position of the Kingdom, strong reliance on European support and the interventions of European leaders in the Kingdom, it was primarily used the comparative legal approach in the analysis of Assises.
