Sažetak
Although research so far confirms the positive impact of music on communication development, there is still a great need for further study with children in the early development stage. Research goals were to investigate the influence of music therapy (MT) on changes on the IMTAP scale, and on the CSBS-DP scale, and to see if the achieved effect could be observed after a 10 week interval. The study involved 13 male children from the age of 2 years 2 months to 4 years 9 months. For the study, IMTAP was used to evaluate various behavioural aspects, and CSBS-DP to evaluate symbolic and communication development. The MT treatments were carried out in weekly, individual sessions for the duration of 10 weeks. After an interval of 10 weeks, the last, 11th session was carried out. Results were generated by testing the significant differences between the arithmetic average t-test and calculating the correlation coefficient. The results demonstrate significant growth in the emotional skills (p=.001), social skills (p=.001), and expressive communication (p=.000) domains. The difference in all of the domains between the end of the music therapy treatments and the end of the programme are statistically significant: social skills (p=.000), expressive communication (p=.000), and emotional skills (p=.001) musicality (p=.003). Although a significant statistical change was not registered, language development and communication and symbolic skills were also impacted. MT treatment encourages the internal connection of development areas and functional balance in children with communication difficulties.
