Sažetak
Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs) are a widespread technology nowadays. ASVs of all kinds and shapes are used for a variety of applications from scientific research to transportation. This introduces both opportunities and challenges.While long-term endurance ASVs can be very useful, for instance, in monitoring applications, legal and safety challenges arise with their increased presence inthe seas and prevent the exploitation of the full potential of ASVs. In this thesis, the most prominent regulatory issues of ASVs will be presented and discussed.In particular, classification (as a first step) and liability regimes of ASVs will be studied and applied to several cases. The goal is to propose practical solutions to the problem of operating legally ASVs.
