HATEOAS has long been a prerequisite of REST that hasn't shown its benefits clearly and understandably, so most developers avoided implementing it. The problem is, we haven't seen an interesting practical implementation, until now! After spending the last two years in development, the Spring HATEOAS team has released a build of the Affordances API. The API implements resources with actions and shows how HATEOAS can truly decouple evolving web services from the frontend.
