Sažetak
The 1990 Constitution of the Republic of Croatia successfully fulfils its role: creation of stabile and modern framework for democratic development. It facilitated complex legal transition from socialist paradigm toward a modern democratic society. The paper present complex political atmosphere in late 80’s and early 90’s of the 20th century in Croatia, drafting procedure, original text and subsequent five amendments (1997, 2000, 2001, 2010 and 2013). It places special emphasis on organization of government. It also includes analysis of the Constitutional Court’s activities in demonstrating Croatian adherence to the best European constitutional tradition.
