Sažetak
This chapter deals with the question of how formative academic theology should be, and if at all. It proposes that there are two approaches to the study of theology, the denominational and the academic which are often opposed to each other. It is more beneficial to see them as complementary in that academic theology has the task to scrutinize doctrine, while denominational study of theology is more concerned with formation and implementation of doctrines.
