Sažetak
The main goal of this paper is to show how visual rhetorics of the newspaper (specifically Croatian newspaper called Novosti, which is mainly politically left oriented) creates resistance to the government. The analysis is based on the rhetorical but also stylistic methods. Focus is on the most commonly used stylistic figures, which have appeared both on the visual and the verbal level, but also on the premises and conclusions on which newspaper Novosti based its rhetoric. While the most famous Croatian daily newspapers become tabloidized, marginal newspaper such as Novosti creates space for a satire and irony of Croatian public and political life and the society we live in today. In that way, Novosti challenge the curent political situation but also question government decisions, make their own audience and also enemies. Each of their front pages became subject of the discussion, as they're somewhat provocative to the extent that a large group of citizens sought to abolish the newspaper. The members of the newsroom understood it as an invitation to continue to resist with an irony and satire
