Sažetak
Appropriate microbiological environmental monitoring is mandatory for blood components manufacturing. Good manufacturing practices (GMP) and national guidelines recommend level of microbiological contamination. Microbiological environmental monitoring ensures system control and evaluates the effectiveness of cleaning/disinfection. (More) monitoring cannot replace good manufacturing facilities, equipment, personnel. Personnel should have relevant knowledge of basic transfusion medicine, microbiology, hygiene and GMP. Microbiological environmental monitoring is carried out in accordance with defined methods and plans. From January 2008 we started with sampling every week but always other surfaces and other devices so that certain areas and apparatus were actually sampled one time per month.
