Sažetak
The history of Japanese-language education in the Republic of Croatia goes back 23 years to when Japanese language classes were initiated in two high schools in Zagreb. Since then, approximately ten educational institutions have played an important role in Japanese-language education. Each of these institutions has produced good results in this area. Nonetheless, there remains one area of development necessary to increase nationwide levels of Japanese-language education: the establishment of systems in which learners and teachers in any institutions can cooperate with each other, study together and uplift each other (for example, web-based learning systems). The present situation, including the above, and a brief history of Japanese-language education in the Republic of Croatia are introduced in this presentation. In addition to this, based on awareness of relevant issues, I would address specific focus areas and issues for the future. It is my hope to thereby contribute to the development of useful and constructive discussion to establish a favourable interface between learners and teachers.
