Sažetak
In order to be competitive in the knowledge market, in today's modern times, which is both a time ofconstant change and great insecurity, we need to be preparedfor the challengesahead. The onlyway any of us can achieve this is- lifelong learning. According tothe Lisbon Declaration, lifelonglearning is the basicway of creating a knowledge society which represents the foundation ofeconomic progress.The main objective ofthis paper is to emphasise the significance of lifelong learning in all of itsforms as well as the growing problem of financing such learning in the Republicof Croatia. Despitethe existence of many legal regulation, lifelong learning has not stabilizedso far as is neededbecause of lack of fundsto the students themselves that ultimately have to bare most of the burdenof financing. The paperwill also present positiveexamples of lifelong learning thatsucceeded inthe area of Osijek.
