Sažetak
Through the prism of sports, more specifically football, the author discusses several examples of connections of sports and identity in European context. In the beginning, a short history of research and scientific interest for sports in ethnology, anthropology and related studies is presented. The author later analyses several case studies of the links between the national identity in Croatian diaspora related to amateur and professional football. Finally, questions are raised about the (im)possibility of a united European identity through sporting practices.
